Introduction of the orange-fleshed sweet potato”  In order to improve nutritional status of the children, adolescents and women as well as prevention of night-blindness the crop has been introduced in Isapura area of Serajdikhan upazila under the district Munshiganj. The initiative was also taken to increase farmers’ income as a high-value crop and crop diversification. Prokriti workers collected the vines from distant sources, transported those to the plantation site, and planted the vine-cuts. With technical support from the local staff of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), the crop would be planted with greater coverage.

Early Detection, Referral and Follow-Up of the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). NCDs account for 67% of all deaths in Bangladesh (WHO:2017) and the incidence has been on the rise. Prevalence of diabetes, hypertension, breathing difficulties have become common problems for most households. Most people don’t know that they are with raised blood sugar and raised artery pressure. Such, lack of knowledge leads them  to fatal consequences such as kidney failure, leg amputation, retinopathy and neuropathy. In order to address the problems’ Prokriti arranged facilities for screening of the blood sugar, artery pressure, and breathing difficulties. Suspected patients are referred to the local hospitals for further evaluation and medication. Prokriti carries out follow ups to ensure that medication is given on time and dietary advice is complied with. The program is being implemented in Mithapukur upazila under the district Rangpur.
