Conservation of the indigenous small fishes. Farming of carp fishes and introduction of invasive species of fishes coupled with mindless filling up of water bodies, pollution from farm lands and dumping household wastes resulted in depletion of the indigenous species of fishes. These indigenous fishes were the most important sources of animal protein. Moreover, farmed fish has macro nutrients only while wild fish has both macro and micro-nutrients. As such Prokriti undertook the conservation program in the “Kathalee Beel” of Mithapukur Upazila under Rangpur district.
